Introducing FireEducator.com Editor, John Lucas
Feb 11th, 2008 | By John Lucas | Category: Features
Welcome to the launch of The Fire Educator. I am looking forward to working with you to build a community for public education officers. I hope that you find this site useful for networking with others who share your drive for fire safety.
As a fire safety educator since 1995, I’ve always had a passion for seeking out the best and most innovative ways to deliver life safety messages to the public. Over the years, many ideas for the programs that I have utilized came to me from other public education officers.
FireEducator.com is a culmination of that knowledge sharing by acting as a virtual community and resource center for fire safety professionals. Our slogan is “FireEducator.com - Where Life Safety Experts Make A Difference.”
Each week I will share some of my own tips and techniques for getting these vital messages our to the public. I invite you to register and share your own thoughts and ideas as well.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back often!
In the meanwhile, take a moment to subscribe for free and introduce yourself below.
About John Lucas
John began his career in the fire service in 1993 as a paid-on-call firefighter for the New Lenox Fire District.
In 1995, he took over the role of public education officer and continues today to present fire safety programs to the community.
He is currently working as a career firefighter paramedic and providing resources for fire safety education programs. In between work and play, he is completing the Benedictine University Fire Responder Bachelor of Arts Management program.
Hi, John (& everybody else on here)
I have a strong personal and professional commitment to fire safety & protection and am pleased to be on board with fireeducator.com.
Before moving to the USA in 2006, I was a technical author for the UK Government’s fire safety codes and public advice programs, and I would be very happy to contribute my experience in getting the fire safety message out. Just let me know if you have anything for me to tackle.
I’m living in Connecticut now, so I’m not in your neighborhood, but hopefully I can still help.
Thanks for setting this up and good luck.
My very best wishes
Darren

Welcome the Fire Educator. It will be great to have your opinion and thoughts from a global perspective. Enjoy!
Dear John,
You and I think alike. I have had plans to launch a site exactly like this. You did such a great job. I hope to
be of assistance to you. I am a former volunteer firefighter and EMT. I have my Bachelors Degree in Fire Science and my Masters Degree in School Counseling soon to be followed by mental health credentials. My goal is to reach out as a resource to counselors and help them understand JFire and how to get the juveniles the help they need. I am currently a Juvenile Fire Setting Intervention Specialist 1 and next week
I am attending the Specialist 2 program.
I live on Long Island and could be of help here in New York. I look forward to visiting the website often and
hope to have a conversation with you in the future. All the Best.
